
TOPIC: Hypertensive Emergencies
Objectives:
1. Discuss frequent presentations of hypertensive emergencies in the pediatric population.
2. Review signs, symptoms of hypertensive emergencies.
3. Highlight the differences between hypertensive urgency and emergency in the pediatric population.
4. Discuss the management of hypertensive emergencies in the pediatric population
Dr. Yashika Seymour graduate of University of the West Indies Class of 2004. She worked as an SHO in the dept Pediatrics until 2010 before doing her pediatric residency in New Jersey. She stayed another 3 years to do a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Wisconsin. She always wanted to come back home and so after completion of her training it was an easy decision for her to come back to The Bahamas where she serves pediatric critical care consultant.
